Dear Parents/Carers

It is with great pleasure and pride that I share with you the confirmed Ofsted report following our recent inspection in March. I am delighted that even on the new more challenging and robust Ofsted inspection framework St Bede’s remains outstanding. This is a fantastic achievement for staff, students and the governing body.

I have never claimed that St Bede’s is perfect, but what I do say is that staff here work incredibly hard to provide the best possible experiences for our students inside and outside of the classroom. I am extremely pleased that this has been acknowledged by the inspection team. St Bede’s provides an ambitious curriculum that inspires students. It is clear that we have high expectations for all of our students whatever their ability or background.

I am passionate in ensuring those with special educational needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are well supported and achieve outcomes like their peers. This inspection report indicates that staff are ensuring that happens and long may that continue. Right across each key stage many subjects the inspectors saw high quality lessons, students focused and producing high standards of work.

Alongside the curriculum and high academic achievement students at St Bede’s receive excellent pastoral care and are well supported. The student questionnaire and panels indicated that bullying is exceptionally rare but if it happens here it is dealt with quickly and effectively. Our procedures for safeguarding are effective and thorough training is provided to our staff. It is fantastic that the inspection team has acknowledged how respectful our students are and how they have positive attitudes towards their learning.  

As I said at the time of the inspection I am very grateful to all parents/carers for your encouragement and support throughout the inspection process including your feedback to the inspection team. Staff at St Bede’s will continue to work hard and serve your children the best that they can.
