Statement

The very serious events referred to in the BBC File on 4 program took place some 40 years ago and are deeply shocking. We stand totally behind the victims of this abuse and will support any formal investigation into the actions of Mr Tudor.

Our school today is an outstanding school that is recognised as a happy, nurturing and successful school. As indicated in our Ofsted report, safeguarding is effective. The report also says “Where pupils are happy and feel safe”.

We have been made aware that, at The Bishop’s Disciplinary Tribunal for The Diocese of Southwark which sat on 28 and 29 October 2024 Mr Tudor was removed from office and prohibited from ministry for life.

We are mindful that the Tribunal made an Order under Rule 49 of the Clergy Discipline Rules 2005 that there should be anonymity for the two underlying complainants in this case. We intend to fully respect this order.

We have the deepest sympathies, care and concern for all those impacted by these appalling events, and we would encourage individuals affected or with knowledge of the events to report these to the statutory authorities. We would also urge those affected to access support.
