Huge pride at St Bede’s School and Sixth Form

I am incredibly proud of each student within Years 11 and 13 at St Bede’s School and Sixth Form. Despite the challenges and disruption thrown at students this year, they have been awarded excellent GCSE, Cambridge National, Cambridge Technical and A level grades. Our students have shown great determination and tenacity in what has been a difficult eighteen months.

This year, following the cancellation of examinations, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the examinations boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

I am thrilled to see that so many of our sixth form students have got into their first choice university. Courses range from accounting to zoology and include Oxford for English literature and language, medicine and veterinary science.

The examination, sixth form and pastoral teams are on hand should any student need further help or advice. Should this be the case we encourage students to make contact with the school. Mrs Tottey, Ms Corry, Mr Blount and I are very proud of the achievements of our students and I am grateful to all the teaching and support staff who have worked extremely hard over the last two years making sure that students achieved these fantastic results.

It has been a privilege to work with this group of students over the past two years and they too should be proud of what they have achieved. Well done to each and every one of them.

We look forward to celebrating the successes of our Year 11 and 13 students formally in the autumn; in the meantime we wish Year 13 well for the next chapter in their lives. We also look forward to welcoming the majority of our Year 11 students into St Bede’s Sixth Form later this month at our Year 12 Enrolment Day.
