Music is Back concert

Back

After two years of no live performances, music came back with a bang last Thursday! The concert was opened by the senior orchestra with their rendition of 'The Lion King', followed by a series of solos by Jess Dowse (violin), Sam Gillett (voice), Lily Odhuba (clarinet), Ashanti Proctor (Oboe), Zack Lovegrove (Saxophone) and Seb Willcock (violin); the saxophone group; Slide; the senior choir, performances by Year 13 music students and ended with a second selection from Slide.

There were some emotional moments with the Year 13 students who are leaving in the summer including a beautiful duet by Ellie Booth and Jessie Hay who sung 'Slipping Through My Fingers'. Mr Wood gave a mention to Year 13 music students who had left last year but didn't get to do their final school performance due to the pandemic, some of whom were in attendance in the audience.

It was wonderful to see the hall packed with a real live audience of family, friends and staff and the support for the students was invaluable and very welcome.

We are so proud of the incredibly talented students and grateful to the Friends for providing refreshments during the interval and everyone else who helped make the event happen.

We look forward to holding the next event for our younger musicians in the summer term.

"I just wanted to write to say a huge thank you for last night’s concert. It was an absolute joy to watch so many young people involved in making such high quality music!!"
